the Birth of Christ
Scriptures from New American Standard Bible
to the Shepherds
Luke 2:8-12
And in the same region there were shepherds staying out in the fields, and keeping watch over their
flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone
around them; and they were terribly frightened. And the angel said to them,"Do not be afraid; for
behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city
of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for
you; you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, and lying in a manger."
Luke 2:1-7
Now it came about in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken
of all the Roman empire...And all were proceeding to register for the census, everyone to his own
city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David,
which was called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register,
along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. And it came about that while they
were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her first-born son;
and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the inn.
Matthew 2:1-5
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi
from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?
For we saw His star in the east, and have come to worship Him".... and lo the star, which they
had seen in the east, went on before them, until it came and stood over where the Child was.
And when they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And they came into the
house and saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him; and
opening their treasures they presented to Him gifts of gold frankincense and myrrh.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
17 "For God did not send the Son into the world" to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. 18 "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." |
